God’s Word, the Bible, lays out in the book of Romans God’s simple plan of salvation. We want to look at some specific verses that form an easy, systematic way of explaining the message of salvation, so that anyone can truly come to know the Lord through trusting in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

  1. Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, There is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; There is none that doeth good, no, not one…for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Romans‬ ‭3:10-12‬ , 23 KJV‬‬

‭‭Take a moment and consider all the ways that you have failed God and others. There are things we have thought, said, and done that are against God and His righteous ways. Begin by confessing that you have sinned against God.

2. The price (or consequence) of sin is death.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Understand that because of your personal sin, that you are guilty of breaking God’s righteous laws, and that you deserve death.

3. Jesus Christ died for our sins. He paid the price for our death.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” ‭Romans‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Believe that because of God’s great love for you, that He sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross in your place, to pay the penalty for your sin, so you could be saved from sin and death.

4. We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

“that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans‬ ‭10:9-10, 13‬ ‭KJV

Open your heart to God right now, and fully trust that God loves you, and is willing to forgive you. Pray to Him, and ask Christ to save you from your sin. Repent by turning from your old life of sin to a new life in Christ.

5. Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Romans‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭KJV

God is not asking for any special performance or good works. He is simply asking you to believe this good news of salvation through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Freely receive, through faith in Jesus Christ, his free gift of salvation which is given to by grace!

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

— ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If you have responded to the love of God, and trusted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, God wants you to have assurance of your salvation in Christ, and wants you to connect with other believers in a Bible-believing church that will help you grow in your new relationship with the Lord.
